He would have been 70 years old today! you do have impeccable musical taste, it's great to read the quotes from songs you interlace with your personal stories

I think Marvin Gaye would be happy to read you, and now... that's a compliment :D heh hehbereweberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04212294373903204510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2515247027173641993.post-16705053233684298212009-04-02T11:52:00.000-04:002009-04-02T11:52:00.000-04:00Yes! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the picture of Marvin you posted -- I keep that very album cover by my writing desk. He's the very best -- gorgeous, troubled, and dramatic and at peace all at the same time.Michelle's Spellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15769666862403600253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2515247027173641993.post-7708003796716905742009-03-31T14:47:00.000-04:002009-03-31T14:47:00.000-04:00This is where my 'gratefuls' come in handy, Jay. ...This is where my 'gratefuls' come in handy, Jay. Because no matter what horrors the day might bring, as long as I end each night, remembering each thing that I have to be grateful for, nothing ever seems that bad. To me, it is incredibly grounding to do this--and it also keeps me somewhat humble (at least I hope).

It sounds as though the retreat was pretty wonderful, with a few exceptions thrown in just to keep you on your toes. Sorry to hear your loss of an iPod (that would kill me) as well as the passport fiasco.

I also love Marvin Gaye--I saw him in NYC in the 1980's before he died. I still remember what he wore--it was an incredibly sexy, red silk, lounding robe (ala Hugh Heffner). What a tragedy his life became but at least he left us some good music to remember him by.

Glad to see you back, Jay!

MelindaMelindahttp://blog.melindaville.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2515247027173641993.post-83859759508068301582009-03-31T11:58:00.000-04:002009-03-31T11:58:00.000-04:00Yeah, pretty much all of us in the first world liv...Yeah, pretty much all of us in the first world live a life of privilege whether we know it or not.Delighted Scribblerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17563861201545761128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2515247027173641993.post-3058783341650777052009-03-31T06:40:00.000-04:002009-03-31T06:40:00.000-04:00Welcome back and Stay Charmed!!!Welcome back and Stay Charmed!!!Sidhehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03997017630623707478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2515247027173641993.post-47040440607244693092009-03-31T03:17:00.000-04:002009-03-31T03:17:00.000-04:00"You're the Man (pts. 1-2)" is a regular part of m..."You're the Man (pts. 1-2)" is a regular part of my workout plan -- yet the 1972 You're the Man album wasn't released.

"Inner City Blues" is another all-time fave. Snap!

But really, not in quite the same way you have.

That's an absolute bugger about the iPod. I'm sure mine is one of the main arteries pumping blood around my body.

Agreed, some of the most beautiful places I've ever been are third world paradises, where I always spend more than I mean to, because that extra $5-10 for me means the world to the person I gave it to. And repeat.

So... does this mean the cynic, while not quite the floaty glowy love being, has returned with a brand new perspective?

Do we need to re-brand this blog Yoga for Reformed Cynics? So many more people could also be happy if they'd just do the same.
Your talk of paradise & the 3rd world reminds me of something I told my ex years ago; "In this country, you have to be a millionaire to live like a caveman." (I might have said apeman, but the gist is the same.)
Welcome back. This time for real.Lana Gramlichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06975996208260144558noreply@blogger.com
