And maybe that's my problem--I jump to disillusionment before I'm even under any illusions.kimhttp://perfectlycursedlife.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2515247027173641993.post-40529740532607682782011-05-31T06:45:18.275-04:002011-05-31T06:45:18.275-04:00This may be my favorite post, and here's why. ...This may be my favorite post, and here's why. Everyone speaks of disillusionment like it's something to be avoided, that it is one's purpose "gone wrong". When you said that first a person had to be "illusioned" I suddenly realized that, at least for me, disillusionment is letting go of a fantasy. Gaining clarity, if you will. In your experience on the mat, you didn't approach yoga with a mindset that it should do something for you...and when you were done, it had done *great* things for you. A bit like nonattachment.

I think we do things - everything? - with an expectation of what we should get back for our effort. That's not as selfish or imperious as it seems, either, because cause and effect is a natural principle that serves everyone well. But sometimes... maybe once in a while... do something just for the sake of doing it. Just for the experience of it in the moment.
