Loving the Earth...one day a year...
...I read something once...really, it’s not gonna get much more precise than that...this guy from I think a Middle Eastern country was mocking Mother's Day, saying "what? You have only one day a year to honor your mother?!”...and he kinda had a point...which brings me to Earth Day....
...which I’m continuing to celebrate by recycling comments left on other people’s blogs...then, I’m sick...my body filled with toxins in empathy with our increasingly polluted earth...or something...
...anyway, as said mysterious illness feels me rather uninspired...not to mention grouchy...I’ll do some more recycling, and direct interested readers toward an early post (itself recycled from a yoga retreat some months earlier) called ...though it doesn’t love me... as well as something written after my more recent retreat, inspired by Marvin Gaye, the loss of a passport, and a whole lot of garbage washed up on a Mexican beach, called Mercy Mercy Me (Further Notes from Exile)...namaste for now...

Aww, does he hurt and have a temperature? Hope you get to feeling better really soon.
I hope you feel better soon. I can sympathize... I just got over a stomach virus, and my fiance has it now. Just mother Earth's way to show that we haven't been too good to ourselves recently I guess.

I hope you recover soon. I made a similar comment on another blog re Earth day should be everyday. If not, we won't survive.
"...though it doesn't love me" is my all time favourite post here. We need to clean up our own mess for our own selves 'cause if we don't we'll get shown the door by landlady Gaia.
Uh, oh..... did you know that Venezualan Equine Encephalitis is on the loose (well, only three vials). Don't worry, although it can be spread to humans there is a vaccine.
Oooh, drjay,
I do hope that *whispers* rod stewart didn't spark your illness. You know, that can happen. You're feeling a little off and then along comes something that just rubs you the wrong way and BAM! You're full-blown sick. I heard, though, that cheese and mustard sandwiches are good for that...
Get well soon!
"I’m sick...my body filled with toxins in empathy with our increasingly polluted earth...or something..."
Once a English major, always employing the Pathetic Fallacy...if if half-heartedly. Love it.
Maybe Obama will save the environment and get us better health care, at which point your symbolism can be seen retroactively as prophecy.
Thank you for your visit and kind words at my blog.
I appreciate your, how shall I say, roving focus. You make points clear by exploring the terrain around them.
As a long time, er, cynic for yoga, I find comfort here. I am even inspired to work on "the plow" again without fear of breaking something. It may take some time, it has been years now since my intimate relations with the floor.
Some of us do work toward a better planet daily. So all hope is not lost. And I believe/observe that more people are getting on board.
Don't give up hope. Earth Day is a Consciousness Raising Tool. It is an opportunity to start dialogue with people who are not doing all they can. So while it seems ridiculous and shallow, it is also an opportunity that shouldn't be wasted.
hola Dr. Jay
I hope you heal real soon! keeping a positive attitude sure seems to improve one's immune system
listen to your favorite songs and records and sure you'll smile (in spite of the fever)
good idea that one of recycling posts, sometimes we tend to read only the 'latest' posts when older ones are rather interesting too
take care!
do it yoga
make balance your mind and body
i hope you faster to good
Thanks for stopping by my photo blog and commenting. I enjoy reading your posts...very insightful. Here's wishing you an enjoyable weekend...
"recycling comments left on other people's blogs..." That's funny. And an excellent idea.
Hope you feel better. You know, when kids are grouchy it's best to get them in water--pools, sprinklers, tubs.
I heard a comedian somewhere comparing Earth Day to the day a battering husband gets his wife a nice "apology" gift, takes her out & treats her well...for a day. Unfortunately apt metaphor.
Feel better soon, nonetheless.
Yeah, funny but true...or true but funny...you know what I mean :)
